Child's immunity is always a concern for parents. It is very important for children to have strong immunity system and help them fight against all the diseases. There are some healthy habits that you can adopt to boost your child's immune system.

-SERVE MORE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES

Your child should be given more fruits and vegetables. They all contain immunity boosting nutrients. They will help in increasing the body's production of infection-fighting white blood cells. They also protect against chronic and heart diseases in adulthood.

-BOOST SLEEP TIME

Sleep deprivation can make you more susceptible to illness by reducing natural killer cells. A proper sleep pattern in very essential for the kids to maintain proper immune system. A newborn ma need up to 18 hours of sleep, toddlers require 12-13 hours of sleep and preschoolers need about 10 hours of sleep. If your child can't or won't take naps during the day, try to put them to bed earlier at night.

-BREAST FEED YOUR BABY

Breast milk contains immunity enhancing antibodies and white blood cells. Breast milk helps the child to fight against all the infections and diseases.  It is a nursing guards against ear infections, allergies, diarrhoea, pneumonia, meningitis, urinary-tract infections, and sudden infant death syndrome.

-EXERCISE AS A FAMILY

Research shows that exercise can increase the number of natural killer cells and regular activities can benefit kids. Exercise with them that just only urge them to go outside and play. Fun family activities include bike riding, hiking, in-line skating, basketball, and tennis.

-GUARD AGAINST GERM SPREAD

Fighting germs doesn't technically boost immunity, but it's a great way to reduce stress on your child's immune system. Make sure your kids wash their hands often -- and with soap. You should pay particular attention to their hygiene before and after each meal and after playing outside, handling pets, blowing their nose, using the bathroom, and arriving home from day care. When you're out, carry disposable wipes with you for quick cleanups. To help kids get into the hand-washing habit at home, let them pick out their own brightly coloured hand towels and soap in fun shapes, colours, and scents.

-HELP CALM THEIR STRESS AND ANXIETY

In today’s fast-paced world, parents are over stressed, children are over-scheduled, and everyone suffers. Children’s bodies have the same response to stress that adults’ do — their cortisol and adrenaline rises. When this elevation in stress hormones is sustained, their immune systems’ response is lowered. It’s important for children to have lots of down time, time for creative play, and simply times of rest. Busy bodies need to take a break every now and then for their immune systems to thrive.

-REMEMBER THAT FEVER HELPS FIGHT INFECTION

Although many parents panic at the first sign of a rise in temperature on the thermometer, it’s important to recognise that fever is only a sign of and not an illness itself. Fever is your child’s body’s response to an infection and without it, her body isn’t as effective at fighting the illness. The truth is, your child’s immune systems works better at a high temperature too, so she can get better quickly. Please note that while I do encourage fevers, it’s important to see a physician to make sure the fever is not a sign that something else is going on.
